Java portal for BI

Dear Experts,

Java stack has installed in my BI system. But when i try the Url 'http://<host>:50000/irj ' nothing is coming. My instance id is 00. How to check the installed port. If anyone configured BI JAVA portal please help me.

Hi,

If your able to open the link with 50100 port, that means your sys nr is 01 and not 00..

To configure portal with BW system, goto http://hostname:50100/nwa -> configuration management-> CTC template. Here you see a list of CTC templates. run the configure BI-Java with ABAP 1.. Initially when you run this template, you need to specify some username, password, check SLD settings, activate SSO parameters in ABAP etc etc. The template will itself tell you all these.

Once the template is run succusfully, goto ABAP system, Tcode RSPLAN-> Start Modeler. This should automatically open the portal page. If it does, then all your configurations are in place.

After the template finishes running, check in ABAP system Tcode SM30-> RSPOR_T_PORTAL. This will display the link to the portal.

In http://hostname:50100/nwa -> Configuration i can see many thing like Application Modules, Application resources, Virtual hosts,Logon groups, system properties,Log configuration,SPNEGO Configuration Wizard, Trusted systems and destinations. Let me know where i should configure the Template

Please suggest me can i follow this doc

Hi Jyothish,

The link you've given is perfect. Execute the template as mentiond in tat link. As mentioned before, in the first screen of the template, you get the requirements such as connect SLD to ABAP, activate SSO parameters, create SAPBIMETA user etc etc. Make sure all these are attended to and only then continue the template.

This template will automatically make all the configurations between the BI-Java and the ABAP system. When the template finishes, ensure in SM30-> RSPORT_T_PORTAL; the BI-Java link is configured. This ideally will appear automatically.

Looks like the UI changes slightly from release to release..

Also, please reproduce the issue and paste the latest default trace log. The default trace can be got from usr\sap<SID>\JC<nr>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaulttrace.log

Hi,

In continuation to Javed's reply..

1. Goto usr\sap\SID\JC<nr>\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat

2. Goto File-> Safe mode.

3. Here you will see if Safe mode is enabled or not. There is a drop down that will display YES/NO that allows you to either enable or disable safe mode.

4. If the current state is YES, that means SAFE Mode is enabled. Make it "NO".

Hi,

You can use ABAP report RSPOR_SETUP to set this up.

Before starting this, please check and let us know what is the URL it is pointing to whn you generate URL from BEX.

In the Url Host name and port not coming.

But iwhen i press ABAP WEB its the report coming through the url.

Can you check in configtool if the server is in the safe mode or not? Disable the safe mode using configtool Goto File->Safe mode, set Enable Safe Mode to No

Restart the java engine

Hi,

Check if the Java processes are running in task manager.. ie., jcmon, jcontrol...

In the place of hostname, check if the link opens with the IP adress of the host.

In the instance profile under usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile , parameters such as rdisp_j2ee** need to be maintained. Do you see any java paramters in the profile?

Hi,

There might be a good chance your SCS instance is 00 and your central instance is 01. Ensure its not the case.

Also, are you able to open the Java tools on the host like Config tool and Visual admin? Are the java parameters maintained in the profile of the system. Page will not come up if these aren't.

Is a valid license installed for the system? In the Java home page link,what are you giving host name as?

i have tried possible combination of Instance number. i can open visual administrator with J2EE_ADM_SID. but i dont have the password for this.

I cant understand your question

Hi

When you install Netweaver with UT BI, Java engine comes with it because it is mandatory. This does not mean that Portal also comes along with it. You have the option to install Portal on the same Java engine or connect BI to another Portal System.

Hi,

for the link http://<hostname>:<port>/irj to work, Enterprise portal needs to be installed on the system. Only then will /irj work.

If you want to check just the Java home page, then remove irj ie., http://hostname:port .. This will work.

In case you are not sure if the Enterprise portal components are installed or not, you can goto http://hostname:port -> System Information page, login with Administrator user. In this page you can see if anything to do with EP, EPPSERV, EP-BC etc files are there or not. These and many other similar components will comprise a EP system.

In order to check the instance nr of your system, you can login to the host/ OS level and see in SAP MMC.

only blank page it showing.
