Definition: Customizing > Quality Management > Quality Planning > Basic Data > Inspection Characteristic, Inspection Method > Define Tolerance Keys

Pre-required condition for tolerance key input:

-Status: Complete or Reference characteristic

-Control indicator: Lower or Upper or Both spec. limit

As per my understanding as the tolerances are the std one ( mostly shaft base & hole based system in Auto industry) they are Grey once you select. These are defined by Std SAP

Standard ones are existing in the system. I also have created some. But the field itself is not enabled. If I give only Target value, then it is not at all visible. And if I give lower or upper or both then the field is visible but grayed out.

In customization of Define Tolerance Key enter all the "Upper ,Lower & target Values"

do not tick on Relative Tolerance & Tick on Copy target Value .

Make sure that you do not enter in Nominal values.

Now while creating MIC select the reference char or complete char->click on control indicators like Upper lower & target->pop up will show the Tolerance keys>select the respective->this can be editable
