Cannot restart SAP after a system restore

Former Member

Dear all,

We are running a ECC 6.0 on Linux OS and MaxDB database.

We have restored our current P1E system from saperpprod1 server

to saperpprod-restore server.

1. The database is up and running.

2. I have modified DEFAULT.PFL instance profile.

3. I have copied profile P1E_DVEBMGS33_saperpprod1 to P1E_DVEBMGS33_saperpprod1-restore

4. I have copied profile START_DVEBMGS33_saperpprod1 to START_DVEBMGS33_saperpprod1-restore

5. When I start sap, the system starts but it seems that all processes die :

/usr/sap/P1E/DVEBMGS33/exe/sapmscsa: make new mode. SCSA currently non existent.

sapcscsa: SCSA defined. sapscsaId == 100270101 == 05fa0015

Why it waits for "Child Processes to terminate" ?

I have already rebooted the serveur, stopped and restarted the DB, without any impact,

Any input is very welcome.

Dear Sunny,

Thanks for your input :

1. R3trans -d

This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 701 - ...)

R3trans finished (0000).

2. dev_disp - I have stopped and restarted SAP. There is no more dev_disp file.

dev_w0 - There is also no more dev_w0 or dev_wx after restarting the system.

3. There is only the following file in /usr/sap/P1E/DVEMGS17/work

dev_trfc

I have these error :

Error in program 'igsmux_mt': ==> Connect to SAP gateway failed

Connect_PM TPNAME=IGS.P1E, GWHOST=saperppord1, GWSERV=3317.

In fact, I have to replace the GWHOST=saperpprod1 by GWHOST=saperpprod1-restore.

With an oracle database, you have to change the tnsnames.ora.

But with MaxDB, which file do you have to change ?

Dear all,

I have found the reason in stderr1 file.

      • DP_FATAL_ERROR => main: rdisp/myname=saperpprod1-restore_P1E_17 exceeds 20 characters

      • DISPATCHER EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN ***

The name of the temporary server on which we have restore the source system exceeds 20 characters.

Best regards
