Livecache Upgrade - Patches

Former Member

Dear Experts,

We have SCM 7.0 SR1 APO system with LiveCache 7.7. We upgraded the latest SP stack 8 on SCM 7.0 and now I see some problems on LCA03. It says LCA is too old. Looks like we need to apply the latest patches to Livecache as well. I'm on AIX 5.3 and Oracle 10.2.0.4 and LiveCache is on MaxDB.

Appreciate if you could kindly let me know the procedure to apply the latest patches to Livecache. I'm planing to upgrade to 7.8.

How could I do this ? What are the steps ?

Kindly help me to get this problem fixed.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best Regards

Kushan

Hello Kushan,

1. Please review the "Matrix of released LCA builds for SAP SCM 7.0"

at -> SCM 7.0

LCA Build and Patch Level 70.15 PL 001, SAP Note 1495739, released with SCM 7.0: SP08.

Please follow the SAP Note 1495739 and update the LCA/liveCache on your system.

2. Please post more details concerning the second issue.

-> Did you login to the liveCache server as root?

-> What error did you get when you run as root "/sapdb/programs/bin/x_server stop"?

-> Run as root on the liveCache server:

cd /sapdb/programs/bin

./sdbverify

update with the "summary" results at the end.

3. As SAP customer => create the SAP message & get SAP support, if the standard liveCache test failed, component - BC-DB-LCA.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia khlopina

Dear Natalia,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I get some errors in the LC wrk directory. As I can see X_Server is searching for some IP address which is not there in the company domain. It pings but there is no such IP address. Does SAP assign ip address to X_Server during the installation ? I doubt about it. But I still cant figure out from where LC picks up this IP address.

Thanks and Regards

Please don't mix up MaxDB and liveCache here!

For liveCache it's very important to choose the correct patch to install.

See [>here<|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/livecache?rid=/webcontent/uuid/200fc3b2-9b93-2b10-53a0-9a7df8e32d80] [original link is broken]; and the sap notes referenced there.

Also check sap note [#998966 - Importing liveCache Version 7.7|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_db/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d393938393636%7d] for detailed instructions.

Dear Lars,

YOu have been great. Those links and the OSS notes you have sent would definitely help me to start this activity.

As per the OSS notes, you should execute "x_server stop"

But as I can see I have some issues with x_server. It is looking for some other IP address which is not there in the network and I'm not been able to connect to the MAXDB using the remote Database Manager tool.

What could be this issue ?

Thanks and Regards
