Hello,

We have found core dumps in our system. We have release 700 and kernel patch 255. The dump says " Main memory destroyed" I have gone through the SAP notes and there are suggestions for kernel upgrade. But we already are at latest level. Also the notes are for older patch levels.

I am copying some key lines from the dump bellow..

Please see the folowing dump details and help me to find out the reason for the dump.

Perhaps try an older kernel patch.

New kernels come with new bugs sometimes.

Whats your OS and DB, I think the latest kernel patch for 700 is 278.

Hello Joe/Sunil,

Thanks for quick reply. We have already upgraded kernels on all server. Reverting the kernel will not be a good Idea. We have OS HP-UX and DB as Oracle 10.2.0.4.0

I just had a look the latest kenel available is 278 for release 700 and OS HP-UX. I will propose this solution ahead.

Thanks alot tp both of you for the reply.

Regards,

Sujit

Hi Sujit

Hope kernel update helps .But propose latest-1 and not latest .

It may help if new release has any bug and not caught by SAP

Also with this dump what I have observed is it will create unwanted file called core in work directory

size will be huge and may cause space issue on /usr/sap

Just have a look

Success!!!
