Automatic forecast model and the forecast errors

Hi Gurus,

What are the drawbacks of using the DP Automatic forecast models over others. i know that the automatic model only calculates the MAD but not other errors esplly MAPE..correct me if iam worng with this and please share your ideas,,

Hi,

To me , if the business makert intelligence / sales teams have specific focus and good research data available with them, then they need not rely on the automatic model selection. It will still benefit them to compare their current models results and the results from automatic model selction.

I found this procedure quite useful for clients whose businesses had dififuclties in deciding the appropriate model, specifically client who acquired new business.

Hi,

Can you confirm that in SCM 5.0 if i use automatic forecast selection it choses the forecast model based onthe lowest MAD error...but i would like to have the system select the model based on the lowest MAPE(coz we are planning to use only this error)..

how can i achieve this..
