Hi all,

We are on SRM 5.0 Extended Classic scenario SP13 with EP as the frontend interface. The processes we do in SRM:

Transfer PR to SRM >SC>PO-->Confirmation -->Invoice.

Condiering the above processes, how do we decide whether to go for an upgrade or no??Also in case of an upgarde is it possible to have either functional or technical upgrade?Broadly, what is the difference between technical and Functional Upgrade? Can we go for SRM 7.0 with PPS ??

P.S. This is a Public sector industry.

Thanks!

Hi,

The big advantage is Enhancement Package. If SRM is 7.0, customer can get new functions every year by enhancement package without big upgrade project. If SRM is 5.0, customer can not get enhancement package.

Thanks Masa for the info.

SO once the sytem is upgraded to SRM 7.0,the inidvidula functionalities later on can always be enhanced by using the new enhancement packages rt instead of full system upgrade???

Also what is the difference between technical and functional upgrade???

If we need to upgrade from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0,then on an average basis, how much timelines is to be considered.

Also since we are in the public sector,do we need to use SRM 7.0 PPS?Is it an add on with SRM 7.0 or a seperate component which needs to be activated?

Thanks again for your time and the vauable info.

Yes

>Also what is the difference between technical and functional upgrade???

Technical upgrade means same functional scope. Functional upgrade means customer uses additional new functions.

PPS is part of SRM 7.0 component. You need to activate Business Function switch for PPS. If you do not need functions for PPS, do not activate the switch.

my last questio is:

What are the deciding factors to go for an version upgrade?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of SRM 5.0 and SRM 7.0??

What are the general timeslines for a technical upgrade and functional upgrade from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0?

Experts,

What are the deciding factors to go for an version upgrade? We currently have SRM 5.0 which works fine. However there are some goods to have features on the wish list but the major business process work fine on SRM 5.0.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of SRM 5.0 and SRM 7.0??

What are the general timeslines for a technical upgrade and functional upgrade from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0?

Also can someone provide more details/experiences working on PPS ?Where can i find the config docs for PPS?
