SAP Enterprise Connector - generating Java proxies for ABAP BAPIs (RFCs)

I interpret this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/79/c6213e225f9a0be10000000a114084/frameset.htm and this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/11/e2bc3d9ecc6b3be10000000a114084/frameset.htm as that the SAP Enterprise Connector is the successor tool for the former SAP Java Connectivity Builder for generating Java proxies for ABAP BAPIs/RFCs.

However, when I start NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.2 and go to File -> New -> Other, the entry reads "SAP Enterprise Connector - DEPRECATED". There is no mentioning of a new tool in the above docu and it is also the only entry in "SAP Connectivity" in this wizard.

Any idea by what the SAP Enterprise Connector has been replaced?

This document seems to be about service composition, not about generating Java proxies for ABAP BAPIs.
