Hello,
since Friday 3rd Dec SAP GUI for Windows is supported to run on VMware View 4.0 enabled desktops.
I'd like to ask a couple of questions to the SAP Virtualization Community:
- Do you plan to virtualize your desktops and why?
- Which products did / do you evaluate during this project?
- Have you already decided which product you'll use?
- Why did you decide for that product? (if you didn't decide yet: are you waiting for something?)
Kind regards,
Matthias
Hi Matthias,
I have been using Windows XP inside VirtualBox for almost 2 years. Of course SAPGUI is there too.
Regarding your questions:
- Do you plan to virtualize your desktops and why?
I am virtualizing my own desktop. Some of my friends which are Linux & Mac users also did the same. One main reason: WINDOWS. SAPGUI WINDOWS is much much better than SAPGUI JAVA. And we need windows for Microsoft Office.
Another is robustness. If our WINDOWS broken, than we can copy from friends, and the OS will be ready within minutes.
- Which products did / do you evaluate during this project?
VirtualBOX.
VMWare
Citrix
- Have you already decided which product you'll use?
VirtualBOX
- Why did you decide for that product? (if you didn't decide yet: are you waiting for something?)
Very easy to use and free. Also good support from community.
Thank you
