Use of Native SAP RF Solution (Benefits/ Disadvantages)

Hello,

we are currently using a NO SAP RF devise (TEKRF) based on our own developed transactions but we’re evaluating changing to natural SAP RF solution (LE-MOB).

It appears that SAP native RF it’s the best option and have a lot of benefits and very few Disadvantages.

Does anyone have a list of benefits and Disadvantages of standard SAP Radiofrequency solution ?

Another thing it’s true than we need one license for each user/terminal when we use natural SAP RF??? If this is true the cost of this licenses are the same of a professional sap license??

Thanx, CésarM

Hi César,

In regards to SAP Licence, YES you need to have one SAP License per RF User.Because when you logon to SAP from the RF devices via the SAP Console, the User is still a SAP User and logs on to SAP via the RF devices instead of the SAPGUI.Also WebSAP Console has certain advantages over SAP Console.

Pl find below the features of SAP RF Solution.

Provides the backbone for interfacing with external devices

· Provides Telnet access to the R/3 system

· Enhances the display coverage of the standard front-end SAPGUI component for character-cell

environments

· Is compatible with standard ABAP/SAPGUI application

· Supports standard ABAP/SAPGUI development

· Enables efficient testing and maintenance, with the possibility of performing application testing locally in

a standard SAPGUI environment

· Enables increased reusability of the ABAP/4 environment

· Provides vendor-independent support for character-cell RF terminals

· Involves minimum application-specific development

· Supports multiple configuration profiles

· Supports text boxes and push buttons

· Supports automated logon to SAP R/3 system

· Supports printing from SAP R/3 system (output device must be configured in SAP R/3 system)

Limitations:

Most of the limitations are around the ABAP development. You cannot you Table Controls. Also there are certain programming standards you have to follow when you develop SAP RF Transactions.

You may have to compromise to some extent on the UI Design.

Thank You
