Are you performing the new installation or want to upgrade existing SAP kernel to latest level?

SAP kernel is depends on your OS. Whats your OS version (IA64, x64..?)

UC-Kernel is Unicode Kernel. Whether you want to install non-Unicode or Unicode.

Select the appropriate kernel depends on above.

I would be doing a fresh install on a x64 windows 2003 with ORACLE DB ( I would try first to install the ECC on a machine with existing PI 7.1) , and if it fails then would try a stand alone fresh install.

So could you clarify how would I identify the kernel assuming it would be a x64 bit unicode install of ECC 6.0.

I got my answer from your reply . but want to verify if i am correct now , below is the kernel for a fresh install of ECC 6.0 SR3 , unicode/x64bit on windows 2003.

( would you be calling a MCOD install i,e ECC intall on PI 7.1 as a frsh install or upgrade install ? )

please avoid MCOD.

MCOD will work, is supported but is a pain to administer in case of a refresh or upgrade.

Yes, kernel looks OK, but avoid the MCOD as mentioed by Eric.

For a real world example , I definitely think MCOD would be a terrible idea for upgrade or performance issues.

However in my case , I was going to use it only for internal sandbox purposes. So MCOD saves me on hardware.
