BRBACKUP ending with warnings

Hello All,

My system is a distributed system on Oracle and windows.We are getting warning during our full online backup run.While checking in DB13 the detailed logs for the full backup,it says::

"Can't exec external program (Unknown error)

WaitForSingleObject failedwith %d (No such device or address)"

On OS level when I check full backup logs in sapbackup directory, it says BRCONNECT call failed in the last line

We use third party tool for taking backup.This has started occuring from last week only.

Hi Rohit,

Please make sure you are running full online backup on central instance and not on dialog instance. Normally, external commands can be executed in central instance only. Here with central instance I am referring to DB host.

SAP note 1375494 (SAP system does not start after applying SAP kernel patch) did it in my case

Until you analyze the full log file you will know what caused the error. please paste the errors from the backup logs.

Was there any maintenance on your system or third party backup tool?

Who maintain the 3rd party tool? can you check the tool is accessable from your db server?
