Smartform sent as html email is displaying as text in MS Outlook

I'm working on an offline approval form in SRM 7.0 and created a smartform as a body of the email. I configured it to be an HTML message but when I retrieved the email in my inbox, the email is text based. Please help. Thanks.

Hi Frederick,

Are you facing issues with rendering in MS outlook. For ex, Table Grid not being displayed , or some other rendering features are unavailable?

Thanks for taking the time to solve my issue.

Your correct, The problem I'm facing is that Outlook is not rendering the html email. In tcode SOST, when I display the message, it appeared as expected. So I'm thinking, the problem is with Outlook and not in SAP.

Fredrick,

You are correct it is an outlook issue this is what we received from SAP

Sadly the problem isn't a SAP-specific problem but a general problem

with Microsoft Outlook 2007. Instead of using Internet Explorer as

HTML-Renderer Microsoft chose Word 2007 for various reasons. Because of

this Outlook 2007 isn't downward-compatible to Outlook 2003 and can't

show many of the formerly possible HTML-tags

Frederick,

The workaround for this issue is :

- Open the email in internet browser (IE, Firefox , Opera etc)

- Send the notification as an attachment.

Unfortunately, Outlook 2007 does not support some formats because of the change in rendering engine.

Not sure about this.

But can you check what display property have you set is ooutlook ( View as html or view as plain text ).
