What happens when TP number range runs out?

Former Member

Dear gurus,

I have a very old system which started off in 1996 as a release 2.2A and had been upgraded 7.00 over time - and still going strong.

One problem we have noticed is that the transport requests have now reached the number SIDK99xxxx. There are currently plans to upgrade the system further and none to shut it down... so what is going to happen when the TP number sequence reaches 999999? Will some message appear in SE01 saying "That's all folks!"?

If there is something we should do, then I would be thankfull for any infos you are aware of.

Cheers,

Julius

Hi Julius,

As far as I know, you can make the range alpha numeric... so when it gets to <SID>K999999 goes to <SID>KA00001 or something similar.

Check program and documentation on RSWBO301, might be helpful

Also, read SAP Note 106911 - Transport system: number range filled for requests

Regards

Juan

PS:

Will some message appear in SE01 saying "That's all folks!"?

That would be a nice feature rather than the usual shortdump

Bingo! Thank you Juan.

The report name led me to the SAP Note, which mentions the system documentation on the report (in SE38). This explains exactly our case and what we need to do.

So... SIDKZZZZZZ here we come!

Thanks again,

Julius
