Problem while installing WAS 6.4 - Sneak Preview

Hi,

I am trying to install WAS 6.4 on my notebook with all the requirements criteria met for installation.

I am getting errors like installing SAP DB and i could not process further. I dont know what to do. I tried all posiblities of installing, but could not proceed at all.

The error says "Assertion failed : in function Installscript_84()". I dont know what does it means.

Could any one help me in this regard.

which Sneak preview have you tried to install? (e.g. slim edition, ...)

Hi,

Nice support from all, infact, the problem was improper uninstallation of previous version.

Actually, while uninstalling the previous version, as usual i went to control panel, and uninstalled the netweaver.

But, as suggested by <b>wael aoudi,</b> i just executed the uninstaller given by the netweaver software and reinstalled the entire thing.

Now i could install it properly. THanks...All.

BUT, I have one new problem identified here. While installing netweaver sneak preview 2.0, it asked me to install Java> 1.3.0 and < 1.4. So, i installed JSDK1.3_13. Then continued the netweaver installation.

<u><b>NEW ERROR COMING UP AFTER INSTALLATION</b></u>

Now, after all installations, i restarted the system and tried opening the package, i am getting a popup saying

"JVM TERMINATED, EXIT = 1" and it stops there...

How could i proceed to open the software on my system..

Please help me to proceed further........

Could you provide more information? You said the installation was successful, so where was the error log, what i am asking is what package were you opening Netweaver Developer studio, or J2ee admin, or Management console? If you mean Netweaver Developer Studio then I get the same error if i use the batch file,try using this command ("C:\Program Files\SAP\JDT\eclipse\SapIde.exe" -vm "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_05\bin\javaw.exe" ) adjust to accomodate your installation. This error occurs if it cant find your javaw.exe (which means your classpath maynot be setup perfectly) so if you specify it when you run it, then no problem.

I am not a hundred percent sure but I know previous versions of the WAS were 1.3 certified and the new 6.40 is 1.4.2 certified. Therefore I recommend you use the 1.4.2 if you decide to do a complete re-install.

I dont know how helpful this might be. I am assuming youre using the Windows installation. I have installed it over 6 times so i have had many many errors. My advice is make sure you have complete admin access and each time you try to re-install <b>is to use the sapinst to remove the installation and make sure none of the sapdb instance is left</b>. Then try again. without clearing the old installation you will have many problems. I hope this helped at all..

Hi ,While trying to install the sneak preview version of SAP WAS 6.4, I am getting the following error

MDB-070021 Registry information for database software found in system but the software check failed. The software was not properly removed or installed incorrectly.

Can you pls suggest me as to what to do to overcome this error?
