Hello,

I am new in certain areas of APO.

I am supposed to make a spreadsheet of all the master data for areas of SNP, PPDS, Deployment.

We are planning to implement 7.0.

Is there any way I can get it.

Please help.

Thanks

Jay

Hello,

Thank you. I am aware of the help link that you have sent.

I did check the forum but did not get enough links (Please forward if you see one).

I wanted to populate the data in a spreadsheet form (like data defination) so that I can compare

with the legacy data.

Thanks for the help.

Jay,

Many APO definitions can be found in the SAP online help Glossary

Hi,

May be I am not explaining my problem correctly. I do not want definations.

What I want is if I want to populate say PPM/PDS, what are the fields that are in PPM/PDS

that requires to be populated in terms of master data ?

We are implementing full life cycle and wanted to map legacy data to SAP Master data fields.

Hope I am more clear this time.

Thanks for help.

Thank you

Jay,

APO PP/DS is used for planning, and not much else. Are you suggesting that you intend to connect some type of non-SAP ERP legacy system directly to APO, and have APO do the planning?

The normal model for APO is to be connected to SAP ERP. If you intend to use the normal model, you do not need a spreadsheet, SAP supplies all the tools to transparently replicate master data, and keep it in synch between ERP and APO..

If, however, you intend to create your own interface directly to some legacy system, and you have never tried this before, good luck to you!

You will need

Plant info

Material Master info

Work Center info

Production version info, which consists of BOMs and Routings

at a minimum.

Before you spend much effort on this project, I suggest that you perform basic research about APO, and upon the effort that it will take to make a direct connection to a legacy system. I think that once you have done this, you will reconsider this decision, or at least consider engaging a consulting company that has done this before.

Hi,

We are planning to go for normal model.

I would like to populate what fields would be required by SAP like say in material master info

requires what fields ? I would like to have a list of those fields.

Thanks for answers.

Jay,

The actual data items that will be required are dependent upon the business scenarios that you implement, and not solely upon the APO modules. You must first have your expected business processes settled, and at least the high-level concepts for the delivered solutions should have been created.

I believe that you are premature in asking for Master data info. In most APO PP/DS or SNP implementations, you do not even have to concern yourself with this matter. The Master data fields that will be required in APO will be sent automatically from ERP to APO. The SAP Core Interface determines which fields from which databases within ERP are necessary in APO. They will be replicated from existing data in the ERP. Do you have an existing ERP?

If you are, in addition, implementing a NEW ERP system at the same time that you implement a NEW APO system, then that is an entirely different topic. There are a huge number of Master Data Fields in the ERP system that must be populated, and most of them are not relevant to APO (again, APO PP/DS is only for planning). New ERP is typically a major project in and of itself. Generally, if you have created all the master data required for ERP production planning, there will be next to nothing else that must also be done in APO. The master

For you to make your NEW implementation of APO PP/DS also work in conjunction with your NEW implementation of the ERP, at a minimum you will need to populate (in ERP) the MRP1/2/3/4 and Work scheduling tabs of the ERP Material Master, you will need to create ERP Plants, ERP Work Centers, ERP Routings, ERP Bills of Materials, and ERP Production Versions. These data will thereafter be replicated AUTOMATICALLY in APO. You only need to connect the two systems, and then create and activate the Integration models.

Below is SAP best practices on Connectivity and data replication. Please read these thoroughly to get an idea of what happens during the setup of a new APO system that is connected to an ERP.
