There is no brtools for maxdb.

Have you installed the Database manager GUI, where you can easily manager your database.

Follow sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb where you can find maxdb backup and restore procedure.

also you can find the free SAP education material on maxdb under maxdb.sap.com/training/

Enjoy MaxDB.

Thanks Sunil Bujade ,

we have read the documents.there is also find DB Studio.

Is it better option than Database manager GUI for Admin DB & DB backup/restore ?

can we install it on Server where SAP installed or it is recommended on separated system ?

Database manager GUI can be installed on your laptop/desktop and also on server where the database is running. This is a GUI interface to admin your database and yes, you can admin your database including backup/restore.

Thanks Sunil Bujade ,

we have install database manager on our desktop PC and registered Server/database instance in it.

in list it showing

devsap UNIX Linux

MAXDB1 7.7.06.10 /opt/sdb/MAXDB1

DEV 7.7.06.10 /sapdb/DEV/db

for both MAXDB1 and DEV status is online.

my question is : for complete SAP backup , we have to take backup of both MAXDB1 and DEV or only DEV ?

here MAXDB1 is name of the database when we install maxdb before sap installation.

DEV is SID of both SAP & DB

>>here MAXDB1 is name of the database when we install maxdb before sap installation.

If the MAXDB1 is not in use then you can shutdown/offline the database.

Only DEV database backup is require for SAP. And make sure you also take SAP related filesysetm backups.

Thanks again Sunil Bujade .

now it is very much clear

Please guide , if we take complete or incremental backup through DB13 , can we restore it using Database Manager GUI ?

For complete recover of SAP system:

File system backup (/sapmnt , /usr/sap) and complete Backup through DMGUI is enough ?
