Hello,

Our production backups started failing this week. I checked the various files under /sapdb/data/wrk/PRD and in the knldiag.err I saw the following:

2010-11-25 02:03:38 5695 ERR 3 IOMan + of file,NUMBER1=63

2010-11-25 02:03:38 5695 ERR 3 IOMan + An error occurred while accessing a volume,VOLUME_TYPE=data,VOLUME_ID=28,BLOCK

2010-11-25 23:50:02 5768 ERR 11000 devio read error (fd = 105): Input/output error

Last night I ran a full "Check Database Structure" as a precaution and it did not pickup any errors. The backup scheduled still failed again with the above errors.

Any advice ?

We are using MaxDB 7.6.06.09 / SLES Linux x86_64

Thanks.

Source of problem related to storage firmware update and not MaxDB.

Looks like the backup device configured as tape, can you please make sure the tape device is working?

try to backup a dummy file to your tape and check.

As per the errors there is no issue with your database.
