New Delivery Block Creation.

Hi,

1) What are the prerequisites for creating a New delivery Block in the system.

2) While configuring the new delivery block, what are the steps to be performed so that nothing is missed out ?

Not able to understand your complete requirement, can you please let us knwo what the exact requirment or business requirment

on what conditions you want to put delivery block

Defining Delivery Block & Assign to Delivery Type

Logistics Execution  Shipping  Deliveries  Define Reasons for Blocking in Shipping  Deliveries: Blocking Reasons/Criteria

On dialog box choose u2018Deliveries: Blocking Reasons/Criteriau2019

On the Change View u201CDeliveries: Blocking Reasons/Criteriau201D: Overview screen, choose New Entries and make the new entry

Choose Save and back.

On Dialog Box choose u2018Delivery Blocksu2019

On the Change View u201CDelivery Blocksu201D: Overview screen, click New Entries and make the new entries

SAVE

Defining Item Category Group

Sales and Distribution  Sales  Sales Documents  Sales Document Item  Define Item Category Groups

On the Change View u201CMaterials: Item Category Groups in Material Masteru201D: Overview screen, choose New Entries (F5) and make the entries:

Thanks Vishal & Balaji for your quick answers.

Business wants to put a delivery block at sales order level.

But now am more confused as from Balajis point of view the new delivery block can be configured from Sales and Distribution Menu, however from Vishals point of view it can be configured from Logistics & Execution Menu. What is the difference ?

Please clear the confusion.

Moreover I also want to know what is the significance of assigning the new delivery block to the delivery types ( in the menu -->Define Reasons for Blocking in Shipping --> Delivery Blocks)

dont get confused.

both have given same solution and functionality is one and same

but with a different path.

delivery blocking - you can see in SD and LE.

Thanks a lot Balaji for clarifying the confusion.

But what about assigning the delivery blocks to Delivery types. What is the significance of this ? Because I have noticed that even if the new delivery block is not assigned to the delivery types, it can be used in the delivery.

Hi himanshu,

let me take an example on the same:

CL Inside Leadtime LF Delivery.

if you go to CL in definition of delivery block you will find all these options:

A delivery block can be combined with certain functions depending on the blocking reason: at order level :

Delivery block at header level u2013 for total document level

Delivery block at schedule line level u2013 at individual schedule line level

At delivery level:

Order block

Requirements block

Delivery due list block

Picking block

Goods issue block

which is assigned to delivery LF,

impact is :

basing on the requriment, it blocks the delivery automatically or you can do it manually.

Delivery Block is used for certains Reasons,ie; To check credit limit of customer, Sometimes in scenario, where delivery block is assigned as to prevent over production. To remind, Delivery block can be used manually irrespective of delivery types at scheduline level.

this is to inform you that,

1.a. might be a different reason from which in standard SAP the reason might not be there.

2) While configuring the new delivery block, what are the steps to be performed so that nothing is missed out ?

in SPRO - S & D - basic functions - Availability check and TOR - block quantity confirmation.

in the above you can define your own delivery block.

take the exact reason from the client why, when, at what leverl they want to block the delivery so that you can define the same there.

you will have order block, confirmation block, print, DDue list,Picking, Gi block.

out the options please check those client wants.
