Hi,

1. Connect to VPN from your desktop.

2. Try to to ping SAP server with hostname .

If your system is not able to resolve the hostname, try to add the entry in hostfile.

Once above done, tyr to access the WEBDYNPRO.

Thanks

Anil

Hi,

Along with the above suggestions , also ensure that the Host entry contains the exact name of application host as mentioned in icm/host_name_full instance profile parameter. You can verify it using RZ11 or SMICM t-codes (in ABAP).

Also look at the settings of your Web Browser. (like proxy-settings in use ? Java script setting is enabled ? etc..) Use Latest Web Browser (e.g. latest IE).

Hi,

i have tried to ping sap server ,its giving request timeout error

Contact your Network administrator and correct such communication gape. The VPN connection between the User and application server should work smoothly. Tell your Network team to allow such communication at Firewall level, if there is.

Dear Satheesh,

i have tried to ping sap server ,its giving request timeout error and i have maintained server details in hosts file , still the same error occur

Did you check the points mentioned in my previous post...

maintaining server details is not enough in case of VPN connectivity.

Hi,

VPN also connected and i have tried to ping sap server ,its giving request timeout error and i have maintained server details in hosts file , still the same error occur .

First try to ping the ip address of server which u have maintained in Hostfile , if it is working then your server hostname should also ping.

If ip is not getting ping, you have to contact your Network administrator for the issue.

Thanks

Due to security reason ping may be disabled. I suggest you must telnet the specific port to check whether the ports are opened or not.

from VPN desktop do

telnet <yourserver> port (ex. telnet 10.10.28.99 50000 & make sure the same works on your server to confirm that you are testing the correct port) if you get a blank screen mean your port is opened and you should be able to access the UR else you will get an error mean you must request network team to open the port.

Hi Satheesh,

In addition to Eric's suggestion, Please check with your Network Team for VPN configuration...

You should check what network configuration you got when connected to VPN Server.

Like IP Address, Gateway, and Most important DNS server.

Just run command prompt and give "ipconfig /all" command. Check if PPTP Adapter has correct DNS server assigned...

(I' afraid, you may not getting DNS server address for PPTP adapter after connected through VPN. As a result, name resolution is not happening and you are facing problem while accessing WebDynpro)

You should be able to resolve SAP Server hostname when connected through VPN, same as you are on local network.

For that PPTP adapter should get DNS server configuration which can resolve SAP server hostname to IP Address.

Hi,

As you mentioned above it seems its only netowork issue.

Check below:

1) Server hostname is mapped in local PC inclusing FQDN

2) URL is bypassed from proxy if required
