Change <sidadm> password - SQL Server 2000, Windows 2003

Hello experts,

We need to change the password for the <sidadm> user at OS level on a system running with MS SQL Server 2000 and Windows 2003.

Can you please let us know if is it possible to change the password directly since Windows without impacting the system? Is there any post steps that we need to follow once we have performed the change?

Thanks and regards,

Dear,

If you change password of <SAPSID>adm user, your SAP would not start becuase <SAPSID>adm could not able to communicate with ABAP database.

Just changing password of <SAPSID>adm user at Operating system level is not sufficient.

Also you need to enter/set new password at below.

1. set same password of user SAPService<sapsid> also.

2. enter new password which required to start SAPOsCol, SAP<SID>_00 services.

3. set new password of <SAPSID> user through managment studio in SQL Server.

Hi,

You can change the password of <sid>adm user, as it will not impact the database operation. it is OS level user and its not used for Database operations.

MS SQL Server Database services run under SAPService<SID> user. So, if you change the password of user SAPService<SID> user, then you will have to apply the same changed password in MS SQL Server Database services (services.msc)
