Hello,

IBM is always recommending to be at the latest maintainance level,

OS provider does all the testing.

Best to apply the latest OS patches and update first on

test system before performing on your productive environment if this is

possible.

Hi,

We have just finished this work, we patched from AIX 5.3 TL7 to TL11 then AIX migration install from 5.3TL11 to 6.1 TL5

You can go direct from 5.3 TL7 to 6.1 TL5(or TL6) as far as I know but we did it in steps as we were on power5 and moved to power7 hardware and TL11 was needed to move to power7 (oracle min was 10.2.0.4)

ECC6 EP7 PI7.1 all went to AIX6.1TL5 (TL6 is out now)

BW3.1 ,XI 3.1 and our NWDI stayed on 5.3 (upgraded TL7 to 11)

Hello,

Only one question, how did you do the os migration? System copy? We are in a similar scenario: our current system is AIX 5.3 TL5 and we are changing our hardware to WPAR. We would like to install our current SAPs systems (4.6C and upper) in AIX 6.1 (the lowest aix release supported by 46C), but we are not very sure with the copy procedure.

Well, really we are sure, if we apply a system copy procedure, we will success, but as we are talking about more that 1 TB of database, the downtime will be very long so we are studing other copy methods. Do you think we can upgrade our current OS, in the current machine and then clone the system to the new hardware?? or even better, install the same database release, db2 v9.1 in the new hardware, catalog the data that we can copy by storage mechanisms and then, install SAP?? How?? new sap??

Thanks and best regards,

Anna

We should not select the best TL as per our requirement, first we need to check whether it is supported by SAP or not. You can find support AIX versions for for applications on servcie.sap.com/pam
