Hi,
Giving 100% discount is ok.
Here is a situation. When you buy a toothpaste, you get a ToothBrush free with it. How will you configure that. Think about it. May be this will help you reaching to the conclusion that Free Goods configuration is necessary.

Firstly there are two types of free goods, one is inclusive, the another is exclusive, you can see exclusive icon in the left top of screen.
1 Inclusive type
a)You will need to populate material field for material number, minimum quantity which means minimum quantity that must be purchased before free goods are invoked.
b) Enter from field
Note: The free goods quantity specifies the amount for which free goods is granted.
Example: Minimum quantity = 1000 pieces, Free goods quantity = 150 pieces, Additional quantity = 3 pieces
If the customer orders 750 pieces, they do not receive free goods. If they order more than a 1000 pieces, for example 1200 pieces, they receive 24 pieces free (Quantity ordered/Free goods quantity x Additional quantity).
c)Enter unit field
d)Enter the are free goo field
Note: The additional quantity defines the quantity of free goods that is granted when the minimum order quantity is exceeded by the document quantity and is dependent upon the free goods quantity and the calculation rule.
e)Enter the Add Qty Unit field
Note: This is the UOM of the free good material quantity.
f)Select the calculation rule:
Note: The Calculation Rule field defines the different rules for determining the free goods quantity.
Example: Free goods record states: purchase 100 cases, receive 10 free; customer orders 150 cases:
Rule1= customer would receive 15 free
Rule2= customer would receive 10 free
Rule3= customer would receive 0 free
2 Exclusive type
a)Enter material field
b)Enter the min.qty field
c)Enter the for field
Note: Enter the same amount as the Min. qty column.
d)Enter the unit field
e)Enter the AddQtyUnit field
Note: Enter the UOM for the free item
f)Select the rule same as above
Hope it helps
