Optimizer run fault

Hi, gurus!

I use the SCM in versions:

SCM 700 0008 SAPKY70008 Supply Chain Management 7.0

SCM_BASIS 700 0008 SAPK-70008INSCMBASIS SCM Basis 7.0

And the latest Optimizer (from 11/11/2010).

When you run the optimizer an error:

Optimizer: An exception occurred in communication object: An.

Message no. / SAPAPO/SNP505

In debugging, I discovered that the execution is terminated when the call of the optimizer and the program fails.

What could be causing this?

We just had the same issue due to one of the notes specified in the release notes (OSS 1496913) not being applied.

Check if you have applied this note, if not it should fix it:

https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1514881

You should also check OSS note 1496913 as if you've missed one you might have missed more

The Note 1514881 - RCCF: Failing Optimizer runs helped in our case.

/SAPAPO/OPT11 Optimizer Run Log diplay turned green. Maybe you should consider this message Answered.

In addition to teh above answer, in teh Optimizer Trace file, if you see the error 10054 then this would indicate a BASIS issue in network communication between APO and the Optimization engine.

You can also review the following notes which relate to this issue: 155147 / 413330 / 500235 / 559119 / 26086

Hi,

Plesae check SM21 logs with regard to this. Also failed jobs on this.

check selection criteria , user locking data hampering the optimizer.

check RFC connections, Live Cache Connections & Consistency.

Mean while, below notes would give clear understand.

Note 1228423 - APO Planning Run and CIF Activities in parallel

Note 747795 - SNP planned orders not transferred from APO to R/3

Note 301500 - SNP optimizer: short dump in interactive planning

you need to understand Optimizer architecture to do perfect analysis.

you can Optimizer session details from T-codes, /sapapo/opt12, /sapapo/opt09

Check with BASIS people -> IS your Optimizer installed/configured in Different System (check Host name of SAP APO and Optimizer from OS level). ideally, Optmizer should be configured in different system from SAP APO system physically.

Optmizer would be full due to over utilization or may be database problem. (unless you log in to Operating system level, you can not confirm on this).
