Hi,
We have been using our Production system for a long time (about 6 years) with just 1 Spool process. It was sufficient till now.
But with new load on printing we are finding it difficult to keep up with just one Spool process. We are seeing long wait times for spool process. Based on the print architecture, looks like we can add more spool processes. The question is "should we add 1 more spool work process to the same spool server or to another application server " ? We are using only Local printing via a 3rd party host spool system which prints to printers over the WAN. Any recommendations to help make the decision would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
SV
Hi Sonali,
Check the following notes, you may find them helpful:

I have decided to add at least 1 more spool process to start with for a specific group of printers and then may be add one more later based on the performance.

Hi,
On our ECC6 production system we have one CI server and 6 application server. We have setup 1 Spool process on each server for a total of 7 spool processes. It is therefore obviously not a SPOF and works perfectly with no wait time.
Of course we also have defined our SAP printers to use a spoolgroup which includes all spool processes.
Nowadays servers have so much memory (thanks to 64bit) and so much cpu power that we can have a lot of processes.

Olivier

You should be able to increate the SPO process to 2, check the parameter rdisp/wp_no_spo documentation in RZ11.
