Error retrieving Oracle database settings MDM server

Hello experts

i have installed oracle Db 10.g on Windows 64bit and the installed the mdm server.Bit when i try to connect to the oracle database i get the following error:Error retrieving database settings.

1.Is there a special way of installing the Oracle database for MDM system?

2.Any port numbers to pay particular attention to?

3Is this the only way to link the MDM server and the Oracle database?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

Please check SAP Note's

SAP Note 1350635 - "Problem connecting to database from MDM console"

thank you all for you response.

I have checked the references you have provided:

i would like to know the following

1.Does MDM comes with own set of Installation DVD`s e.g. exports ,db,kernel IM?? etc

2.The installation guide on Windows and Oracle states that oracle client software should be installed ,how should that be done as the softtware i have its a SAR file.Do i unpack it and copy it some where ?which directory paths
