Hi

Our BW team wants the Basis team to create a package for SPM in BW to transport BW related objects from Development to Quality system

When we try to create a package in SE21, it asks for Software component .Which software component should we choose: BI content or SAP_BW

Hi,

Transporting SPM objects (DSO's, Cubes, Transformations, Queries, Table entries, etc...) is no different than any standard BW content. So depending on how your system is setup you need to use the appropriate package to collect and transport objects. ANAXSA is what SAP uses for the SPM addon, so this not a package, unless this is a package that your basis team has created for you.

Basically you use the standard transporting mechanism in BW to move objects between systems. SPM has not introduced any new mechanism / concepts for transports. SPM relies on BW for this.

Hi

I just wanted to correct my earlier statement, that was more from a SAP dev point of view.

Rohit is right, pls go ahead and use the standard transport mechanisms that you use for transporting BW objects.

Hi

BW content for SPM is split into two, BI_CONTENT and ANAXSA_V2_BI

There is a little bit of history here that will help understand why:

In the version 1 of SPM, all of the objects were part of the standard BW content. Starting the 2nd release (2.0), except the infoobjects, all higher level objects (cubes, queries, multiproviders, transformations, DTPs and DSOs) were moved to SPM's addon and are no longer part of BW content.

For these reasons you have to trasnport both the packages.

Hope that answers.
