PI and SAP application server as JMS provider

Experts

We have SAP PI Integration with TIBCO Business Connect.

So we are planning to use SAP application server as JMS provider.

/people/jochen.damzog/blog/2009/12/07/pi-and-sap-application-server-as-jms-provider

We will be having around 2,00,000 messages per day. (Average size 50 kb)

My concern is whether SAP application server can handle this volume of messages ?

Will there be any performance issues ? Any other issues ?

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

handling huge volumes with PI we can do the following considerations:

- Use PI 7.11 latest SPS

- Use direct communication with the Advanced Adapter Engine if possible ([Configuring Direct Communication|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/48/ce5bf1a0d7154ee10000000a421937/frameset.htm])

- Try to maximize the Throughput aggregating messages to reach che size per message recomended by SAP.

Have a look to this document

I am concerned about accessing the queues of a SAP WAS as a JMS provider for high volume data.

Your thoughts on this

SAP doesnt recommend using the internal JMS queues for productive scenarios.

I was recently asked from where did i get this information of SAP not supporting the internal JMS. Unfortunately it has been a long time since this was posted and i am unable to recollect the source.

Hence i would like to alter my statement to the fact that on a personal experience the queues were not helpful for us. Support of SAP around this for productive scenarios needs to be yet confirmed .
