Problems with MINI Basis at 35% of installation

Hello,

again I have a problem during installation of the MINI SAP BASIS:

At step 35% of the overall installation process the following error occurs:

Error: DBCOMMONDBENV_IND_MSS InstallationDo 2 416

Phase failed.

Error: Main {} 2 416

Installation aborted.

What could be the reason?

I assume that this is the 4.6D version on MS SQL server 2000 (MBS).

From the 4.6D kernel disk, file FAQ_E.doc:-

Could not find SQL-Server Instance "MSSQLSERVER" on your DB host "...". You must install SAP into the default instance or into a named instance that has the same name as your SAP system (SID).

<b>Answer</b>

The "Remote Registry Service" must be running when you install the Mini SAP Basis under Windows 2000.

Check whether the service has started (Control Panel Services).

If it has not, start it and restart the terminated installation by choosing Resume Installation.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition. It seems that the remote registry service is not available for this edition.

Could there be another reason? Maybe it is not possible to run Mini SAP Basis on Windows XP Home at all.

Any further advice?

I installed this version (MBS, 4.6D) on XP home + SP2 many times so there should not be any problems.
