Hello gurus,

After system upgrade of our BW system from 3.5 to SAP Netweaver 7.0, EWA report is alerting the following problem in the system:

You are using the obsolete 3.x authorizations in BW 7.X. SAP does no longer support this feature.

Could you please and provide additional details for it and how can we deal with this authorization issue?

Thanks and regards

Hi,

Have you activated the Analysis authorization switch. Goto RSCUSTV23 and enable the same. Also, perform the following:

1. Go to SE38 transaction code

2. Enter RSEC_MIGRATION report and click Execute.

3. Click All users button to migrate all the users to BI 7.0 authorizations.

4. Click Next step.

5. Select the authorization objects to migrate:

6. Select Assignment method. (See detailed description of the assignment methods in the next chapter).

7. Click Next step.

8. Click Execute in the Background.

This will migrate all the old obsolete authorization objects.

Hope this helps!!

Raghu

Hi Raghu,

I really appreciate your help!

Just wondering if would you have any SAP note with the described procedure that support the execution of these reports so we can request the authorization needed and proceed with the changes according to the recommendations.

Another question, do you know if could be any impact with the functionality of the authorizations once we have performed the migration?

Thanks and kind regards,

Hi,

Check this Wiki, which will be really handy. It has all the related notes, and document links which you can refer to:

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/UsefulTransactionsandNotesgoeswithNetWeaver+7.0

However, the only impact I see is with the queries/workbooks. Some of them may not function as expected after the upgrade which uses the obsolete authorization objects. You may manually adjust them.

Hope this information helps you to resolve the issues.

Warm Regards,

Raghu

Hi,

After executing RSEC_MIGRATION, select the reporting authorization objects to be migrated. At the end of the migration run, check for the warings & errors. This should be your base to proceed further.

Further, identify the InfoAreas, InfoProviders on which the queries are built-on, and InfoObjects which are to be made as authorization relevant.

Create the analysis authorizations based on these inputs and assign them.

You can use the below tables to prepare a matrix to understand the Role Vs, Infoarea, infoprovider, object and the queries that are included:

- AGR_DEFINE

- AGR_HIER

- RSRREPDIR

- RSDCHA

Hope this information will make the migration a cake walk

Warm Regards,

Raghu
