Route Determination

Hi,

Route get dtermine with region of destination and source.It is irrespective of material.

Our requirement is -

We have Material BOM when that material enter in sales order route get determine for parent material as well as for sub items

client want for some sub items different route should get determine automaticaly now user are entering it manualy.

Note - Plant and shipping point is same for Parent as well as sub items

Whether it is possible?

What workaround we need to do?

Hi anup12,

As mentioned above, you can use "Transportation Group" at material level to use alternative route determination.

But can you explain more why in single sales order you would like to have only BOM materials defined with alternative route?

If the sending and receiving location are the same, would the BOM travel separately using alternative route?

I suspect that potentially via alternative route you might want to workaround some other issues related to eg. delivery dates etc.

That is why it would be good to know more about the background.

this is for your information as the route determination is not dependent on BOM or materials:

of course it takes transportation group from MMR.

but these are the on which route determination depends:

Route can be re u2013 determined at delivery level also.

Route is determined for the line item in the sales order by taking the below specified factors:

1. Country and departure zone of shipping point.

2. Shipping conditions from the customer master.

3. Transportation group from the material master.

4. Country and transportation zone of Ship u2013 to u2013 Party. and

5. Delivery group of material master if the Route is re u2013 determined in the delivery document.

u2013 At order level route is applied to single item.

u2013 In delivery level route is applied to all items.

Route is automatically proposed to each line item in the sales order. It is a process where by one can assign specific

routes with transportation legs using different shipment types can carriers.

u2013 Route can be determined in the delivery again.

u2013 In delivery route applies to all items in the delivery.

Dear Anup,

Hope you are well verse with the Route concept.

Route doesnt deal with the Materials ( though Transportation group one of the parameter to determine route), Route deals with the departure location to destination location.

Still if you want, you can determine different routes for main item & Sub items by using different "Transportation Group" in Material Master - Sales/Plant general data.

But keep in mind that this "Transportation Group" is specific material, but not specific to Material + Plant ( though the field appears in Plant specific data)

with the above input, hope you can determine different routes for BOM items.

But still, I would like to ask, why your client wants to have different routes for BOM Items??
