Hi,

There will be no impact, if you change the password using brtools.

Thanks

Hi Della,

SAP system does not touch user SYSTEM at all, so there is no impact for you to change/reset the password for SYSTEM, either via brtool or via SQLPlust directly.

SAP system uses SAP<SID>DB user to connect to the database, so if the password is changed from DB side, it must be synchronized to SAP system, orelse, the SAP will not work any more as it will be unable to connect to DB.

If you change it via brtool, the brtool will do the synchronization for you automatically, so there is no impact...

Thanks and best regards,

Thunder

Thanks all.....

Last question, do I have to shutdown DB when changing the password?

No, you dont need to , if DB is down you ca not change password also.

In short DB should be up and running.

The replies are confusing some people are saying that we have to use SAP brtools in order not to have an impact on SAP while others say that that you cannot change the Sys & System passwords using Brtools.
