SAP Netweaver 7.0/SR3 Install db hosted on an IBM z/OS (distributed system)

Hallo friens, i have a question about conducting a Central Instance

Installation on Windows 2008 x64, the database is hosted on an IBM z/OS

DB2 (distributed system). Have the installation DVD "SAP Netweaver

Release 7.0/SR3 from SAP marketplace downloaded. Unfortunately is the

Selection "Distributed System" for IBM DB2 for z/OS missing (Global

Host Preparation is not available).

Which Installation DVD is recommended? I would deeply appreciate

providing the material number of the CD/DVD.

Hello Christoph,

Have you created the <sammnt>/<SAPSID>/... directories as

"4.2.2 Prerequisites before Starting SAPinst: Distributed

Instances" section in installation guide?

As it is heterogeneous, it is needed a common place to reach the profiles etc.

In the windows 2008 side: Please confirm it is not R2, as it is not supported yet.

Hello Carlos, sapmnt is created. The problem: when I start SAPinst, does not exist the "Distributed System" section for DB2 z / OS in the installation guide.

Note:For all other Database, such as SQL or MAXDB is the section "Distributed System" present.

Hi Anil, i choose the followin path ( in sapinst): "SAP Installation Master/SAP ERP 6.0 Support Release 3/SAP Systems/IBM DB2 for z/OS". I'm missing the following installation path "Distributed System/Based on AS ABAP/Global Host Preparation and Central Instance".

Note: the database instance is already installed

As you said, your database instance is already installed ( if i am not wrong, it mean it has been installed on IBM OS)

If so, now you have to move to Windows server for installtion CI ...

Hi Anil, yes the databese is installed on IBM OS. The SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 Installation also includes other options. I can select different database. For example: IBM DB2 for LUW, MAX DB and MS SQL Server. For each database, it raised the possibility of choose " Distributed System". But not for IBM DB2 for z/OS. why this point is missing here? For IBM DB2 for z/OS i only have the following choices: Central instance and high availability system. the choice" Install central instance" i can not use. here wants to install again the datab sapinst. We have no high availability system. what remains in our case is "distributed System" .

Note:Global host preparation prepares the file system, creating the profile and installing the executable. The next step here would be installation "central instance" and the database is already installed.
