Reduction Reservation

Former Member

Material is attached to activity with procurement type Requisition + reservation for WBS elemen for 10 Qty. For the 10 Qty PO and then GR is done. Now it is found that I may need only 7. So extra 3 are transfered to another project where they need urgently. Now I have reduced the Reservation qty to 7 so that MRP does not create new requirement for 3Qty as stock is reduced to 7 from 10. But when I change the reservation qty in CN22 it reduces PR qty and triggers PR release stratery again. Which we dont want.

Please let me know is this a right process.

Singh, initially you have planned for 10qty and you have recieved the stock into project, now you have used only 7nos. So at this time dont change the quantity in project. when you do MIGO for 7 nos, mark "final issue' indicator or you can mark this indicator in procurement data tab in CJ20n also. so, the reservation will be considered as closed, now MRP will not consider this reservation. Now for balance 3 nos, either move the stock to plant or other project.

Hi

As the material is recieved so material requirement is completed. It means system should not accept any changes on material qty in Ps (standard system gives a warning message when you reduce the material qty to lesser value than goods receipted). Even if you change also nothing is going to happen in system.

If there is no subsequent process have taken place in MM (like GR etc) then you can change the qty in PS module.

Now you have two options: 1. Return 3 qty to vendor so that your project cost will be credited with price of material (3X material price). Raise a new requirement in new project.

2. Transfer the received material on to new WBS directly using appropriate mvt type.

Step no 2 is advisable in your case as you already received the material.

When we try to reduce the reservation qty system gives warnning message. But we have to reduce the reservation qty to 7 so that system does not create new requirement for qty 3 when MRP is run.

We just want to reduce the reservation qty to 7 not the PR qty (PR should remain with Qty10). But system is changing PR qty when Reservation qty is changed from 10 to 7 and PR release stratergy is retriggered.

Regarding Cost there is no issue. Becasue wehn Qty 3 transfered from this project to another project the cost credited and debited to new project.

What we are looking at is how to change Reservation qty w/o effecting PR.

Hi

You cannot change the reservation without affecting PR as PR is auto - generated from reservation. But could you tell us why you want to reduce the qty to 7 as you already doing the stock transfer from project to another project..it will suffice your requirement...

When you change the reservation qty to 7, subsequent MM transactions will not be affected except PR as it is generated from Ps module.

If you dont want PR release strategy to be re-triggered then you need to maintain separate release indicator (in MM module) for PS generated purchase requisitions. Please check with your business process team if it is their requirement then consult your MM counterpart to re-configure PR release strategy for PS generated PRs.
