Add new hard disk

Our server is running out storage space, so we are planning to install new hard disks. Please let us know how to set up

Hello,

I will assume you are on Windows.

Ask your hardware supplier if you have raid 5

They will tell you how to break the raid and add the disk

Very difficult to answer your question until you give us some background.

ie disk add to database or SAP filesystem (UNIX / Windows) what exatly you want to achive after addiing new disk?

For what we are going to do is that we try to run the client export with t-code SCC8, since the system respond Runtime Errors

What happened :

You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was not available.

So, we try to add new hard disk for this. By the way, our system is windows 2008, with oracle database.

You mean you want to add more storage (disk) for your database. Can you please explain below:

The existing disks are configured under RAID5? Do you have free slot on your storage? Whats your current database size? and allocated disks size to the database and how much freespace you have on these disks.

You want to export a client using SCC8, which profile you are usnig? and have you checked that you have sufficient freespace under \usr\sap\trans

Hi,

This dump occurs not only because of disk space but also if there is no space in the tablespace. Check whether u have enough space in the tablespace and extend the tablespaces if necessary.

Also check whether u have enough free space in the trans directory.

In case if u lack free space u can add the new hard disks and thenincreasese the drives size wherever needed. U hav to consider the raid config also.

This error message is not related to disk space.

I suppose you are getting a short dump TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED ?

A SAP notes search with keyword TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED should give you a start.
