Hi there,
We have SAP ECC 5.0 under Windows Server 2003 / win 32 Bit.
And we want to upgrade to ECC 6.0 and we have now a new hardware and Windows Server 2008 / 64 Bit.
The normal way is:
1) Install SAP ECC 5.0 in the new hardware with Windows Server 2008 / 64 Bit
2) Make a DB copy from Windows Server 2003 / win32 to the new hardware with Windows Server 2008.
Is the is the normal and easy way to do.
Is there any better way to do? What about if I clone the all system from win32 to win 2008 and upgrade there?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Hanseatik
I suggest you to go through Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64)
You can use a system copy of Windows 32-bit to Windows 64-bit using the same database platform. Using a homogenous system copy for which the target system is installed on a 64-bit operating system. You can either use R3load or Database-specific procedures..

Hi there,
Thank you all for your reply.
As Anil mentioned Windows 2008 is not supported SAP ECC 5.0, if this is the case so this is bad for me. I can not upgrade the source system (Windows 2003 + ECC 5.0 + MSSQL 😎 to ECC 6.0 because I have no space.
What do you think about this:
1) I install Windows Server 2003 on target system (I hope is will be 64 bit?)
2) On the target I install SAP ECC 5.0 on
3) Make a DB Copy from source system to target system
4) Upgrade on target system from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0
I think this the secure solution and the only I can do because of no space on source system.
Let me know.
Best regards
