"On Hold" on sm50

Gurus:

I see some jobs have a status "On Hold" at sm50.

The platform is AIX/DB2-8.

-- what does it mean, i.e. hold for what?

-- any action needed and if so, what to do?

Thanks a lot!

If your backgorund job is for external server or sending data out or waiting to repsonse then it will show as on hold. You should be able to view the WP trace.

Dear Laura,

If u have put some long job it shows in hold status, please check process is runnig because it takes long time or just because of problem like deadlock or something then after confirming its due to some error then kill it in sm13.

Hi Laura,

This depends upon your program running, generally it will be there , if its in same status for long you can check with ABAPer to find out the root cause.

So if you feel job is standard and/or not critical you can kill it as sometime it might hang.
