MaxDB Recover Restore error -111 Incompatible Incremental Backup

Former Member

MaxDB 7.5 on Windows 2003 R2 server.

At a DR (Disaster Recovery) test yesterday, using the Recover GUI:

1. Recovery with Initialization

2. "Restore a specified backup from history" starting with the last FULL copy and Incremental Copy

3. The Initialization worked fine.

4. The full copy was restored fine.

5. The Incremental copy failed because of a mis-typed medianame.

6. I started the database, bringing it ONLINE.

7. Fixed the medianame problem.

8. "Restore a Medium" using the Incremental Backup. This was my only choice for "Type of Recovery".

9. Failed with a -111 Incompatible Incremental Backup.

10. Tried restoring until a specified time.

11. Same result: -111

Q1. Was #6 (bringing the system Online) the cause of the -111 error?

Q2. Are there other explanations for a -111?

Q3. At this point (#11) how do I restore to the Incremental Copy?

Thanks

... and you are asking this question in the "SAP on Oracle" forum because ... ?

Beside this I think, after bringing your DB online there is no chance to apply any further

incremental backup or logs (this is by the way the very same problem on Oracle as well

Thanks Volker!

I had no idea my post was in the wrong forum. Sorry about that.

Thank you for the response. I have my suspicions that MaxDB acts the same as Orace, but I want to be 100% certain.
