Hi,
On the PRD system A log shipping is configured.
The log shipping destination is server B.
This is being monitored by monitor server instance C.
Now the monitor server instance C is being dismantled.
We have been asked to schedule the monitor job on system A itself.
On system A i see that in the log shipping configuration the checkbox "Monitor server instance" is ticked.
My understanding so far is that we cannot simply move this job from one server to another.
Do I have to dismantle the entire log shipping?
If yes how is the destination server B affected?
Regards,
Rohan.

Hi,
Thanks for your response i have now read the note and the pdf attached in it.
It seems i have not made myself clear in the question as I wasn't able to find anything relevant to my situation in the note.
Let me try to explain my query is that the monitor server instance C is now being removed altogether. The monitor job is currently running on this monitor server instance C.
I have now to do two things:
1. remove the monitor server instance C;
2. reconfigure the monitor job to run on the server A (source of log shipping).
If I dismantle (the existing logshipping) and reconfiguring the log shipping (without the monitor server instance this time) in the manner mentioned above would mean a break in the log shipping.
I need to know what is the impact of this, as this would break the steady stream of logs being shipped across.
Wouldn't the reconfiguration of the logshipping create a new series of logs?
Wouldn't this cause an issue on the destination server B?
Regards,
Rohan.
