No EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager task in SDCCN

Hello All,

We have configured SAP Solution Manager and managed system to generate EWA report.

In Solman, we have created the system, logical system and solution. We have activated the managed system in Setup EarlyWatch Alert in Solman.

In Managed system, we have activated SDCCN, assigned BACK RFC, created Maintenance package and refresh sessions.

However, after completing the Maintenance package task there is no EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager task created in managed system. We have reviewed the task logs and found no errors.

In Solman, when we create EWA for today's date the status is showing with an Hour glass stating that "Wait for session data: SAP EarlyWatch Alert and session number"

Kindly assist us in fixing this issue

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Satish

Hi Satish,

Have you just tried to run a refresh session task on the managed system in SDCCN and ensuring the Destination RFC is the SM_<SID>CLNT<#>_BACK RFC, and also that the Solution Manager system is defined as Master?

The Maintenance Package is supposed to schedule a Refresh session to pull the session from Solution Manager ( schedule and EarlyWatch for Solution Manager SDCCN task on the Satellite. Perhaps this task is not running because there are errors in the Maintenance Package task, or its not using the correct destination. But it is less to T/S going frm the Refesh Session Task.

Hope this is helpful.

Paul

Hello All,

Thanks for giving your thoughts.

This issue has ben resolved by completely replacing the service definitions for SDCC/SDCCN as per SAP Note 727998.

In SDCCN > Utilities >Delete and Replace Service Definitions

We have done this first on Solution Manager system and use the RFC Destination SDCC_OSS. This ensured SolMan has the most current service definitions. Then ran the

same process on managed system, only used the BACK RFC Destination to SolMan.

Then we ran a refresh session task, and instead of the error, we got an EWA session to process. The RED Flag for Managed system on SolMan in DSWP has changed to two bottles.

Thanks again.

Hi

the task "early watch alert for solution manager" created automatically when did you perform the task "refreh session" or "Maintenance Package"

please create the relevant task, via : SDCCN -> Task -> Create ->Request session data ->Periodic -> Earlywatch Alert -> Continue.

'Schedule' the start date of the first session and - Task -- create Click on 'Refresh sessions' - Press 'Enter' - Select 'Now', to schedule the job 'immediately. once you create the relevant tasks you go by, in the Menu - Goto -> start - to activate the Earlywatch alert session Now, you can check the finished EWA task in 'done' tab.

Login to Solution Manager, goto trx. DSWP --> Select your solution, Solution Monitoring - Earlywatch alert - Click on Earlywatch alert --> start service processing --> Press 'OK' to start the background job - click 'Refresh'

Now, you can see the 'Early watch alert' in the green colour .

Hi Satish,

Firstly do not generate EWA from Solution Manager but wait for Maintenance Package session to complete in the managed system and send the data to Solution Manager as part of your solution.

Before running the Maintenance Package session in the managed system, please check if you have activated the task processor job by going to Goto > Settings > Task processor and schedule it periodically every hour.

Then start the Maintenance Package task and run the session to send the data back to your Solution Manager.

It seems you have done everything else correctly but douible check your RFCs (back).

Hope this helps,

-Rohan

Hello Rohan,

Thanks for the quick response.

Before running the Maintenance Package session in the managed system, please check if you have activated the task processor job by going to Goto > Settings > Task processor and schedule it periodically every hour.

I have checked that and it has scheduled periodically for every hour.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Satish
