Dear,
We are using IBM CommonStore to manage the arhived data. We want to shutdown the CommonStore (this is not the topic we discuss here) and want to migrate those archived data to FileSystem which is supported default by SAP.
Is this possible and how?
Thanks in advance.
James
Hi James,
Just as you store the archive files from file system into content server (in your case common store), you can retrieve the archive files back to file system from content server.
Go to transaction SARA, choose 'Storage system' and then choose 'Retrieve Files', select the files you want to retrive and execute. This should bring back the files into the designated archive folder in the file system. You could take a screen shot of the archive sessions in management before and after retrieve to see the change in the archive file location.
Try doing this for few files and then shutting down the content server and then accessing the data from archive files which were retrieved. Perform rigorous testing before you actually shut down the content server permanantly.
PS: this method works only for the archived data and not the documents (attachments archived using archive link, gos..)
Hope this helps,
Naveen

I have ....YES..........&..................NO.
How am saying YES.
...................................................
Irrespecitve of Solution tools ( Common Store -or- Opentext ) we use in Archiving, are storing the ARCHIVED FILES in content repository, which gives it's luxuries of performance, Management & non corruption of files, compare to keeping files on Operating System level - classic way., ....if we can bring back the files to operating system level,.....We are done....But how ?????????
How am saying NO
...................................................
But the archive WRITE FILES already stored into Content Respository of CommonStore and deleted at OS level, best of my knowledge COMMON STORE - IBM is not providing any tools to unimplement COMMON STORE archiving solution .
But a Question
..................................................
Over the classic archiving scenario which will allow us to keep the files at os level
and accessing the archived data , which was delivering low performnace and data corruptions were critical.
To avoid that we common store / Opentext solutions are there....Which business / technical scenario is demanding to roll back to classic way of storing files.

Definitely this is a VALUD VIEW ? Why we should live forever with the only Solution which we acceped first in our case COMMON STORE....Let me put this question to my Archiving Solution Partner.
Secondly....
We were not trying to challenge why you are unimplementing "COMMON STORE".
We were just trying trying to understand a TECHNICAL REASONS, Why a SOLUTION which was accepted as a long term journey is demanding is Unimplement...Those you data points may add value for others......, was actual intention....
if the reason of unimplement falls out of "legal disclaimers " space..share withus (or) you can give up on that....

OK. let discuss the story in short.
We acquired a new business dimension . We decide implement the funciton in our system and shutdown the legacy SAP.
The legacy system will be copied to our company just for audit purpose for the historical data, but it was using CommonSotre. We do not want to buy a CommonSotre for the system copy, it was not cost efficiant.
This is the reason for un-implement CommonStore.
Let back to technical solution, possible and how?
Thanks in advance,
James
