I am planning to perform a homogeneous system restore using sapinst.
Our landscape is of Java 6.40 and I have to perform a restore on same landscape.
Can some one please share me the procedure to perform only java system restore using sapinst.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Srinivas
Hi,
You will have to follow Database-Specific System Copy method using SAPInst for you purpose. At Source System side you will have to create JAVA export to archive SDM and application-specific file system contents of JAVA.
Refer the following Useful SDN Articles for your purpose. Take the reference of the following Articles for your purpose.
[Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR 1|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/cd76e07d-0c01-0010-298d-f699863f2ce4?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] (Refer Topic - "Process Flow for Copying a Java System" under main Topic "Database-Specific System Copy" at page no. 34). All the required steps are listed there with details.

Hi,
You can do the system copy using the sapinst.
Please download the system copy manual for pure (only) Java system from the service.sap.com.
Then you have an option of using the database dependant (restore/recovery) method for the database.
This will save you some / a lot of time (based upon the size of your database).
And then you can take export of the SCS/CI.
You can also choose to use sapinst (export / import) for both the parts DB - SCS/CI.
Regards,
Rohan.
