The TDMS guide says that the sender may be required to have downtime for TMSHL packages.
Could you tell me how can we avoid that downtime because we cannot afford it.
By the way, can we do TMSHL without going to the OS level as sidadm performing exp/imp commands? In other words,
can TMSHL be done purely thru CNV_MBT_TDMS like other packages? I guess not.
Thanks!
Hello
It not mandatory to have a downtime on the source system for TDSHL, but its better if the same can be provided. If the downtime cannot be provided then we need to take care that during the time when the ABAP data exports are running on the sender system, the system should not receive any transports i.e. the all the incoming transports should be blocked.
No, its not possible to do the entire TDSHL process from the TDMS process tree, the import and export steps need to be done at the OS level.
Hope this info helps you.

Hi,
The downtime of the sender system depends on th copy strategy, but I doubt as this will still need some downtime for building the loads.
Regarding your 2nd question , you can execute the Shell package from cnv_mbt_tdms but the import/exports etc needs to be done manually.

Sandeep
