Hi All,

We have BW and ECC systems on the same sever with same SID but diffrent client number for development system. Production of ECC and BW is on the diffrent sever and SID. We want to client copy pro ECC to dev ECC, we can not system copy because BW has same SID wirh ECC. We would not mass up any thing with BW client. do you think this is the correct way to copy pro to dev for this circumstance? or is there any way to do that for best result? if we use scc8 which profile should we use? any idea?

Regards

Hi,

Is this ur system landscape ?

ECC DEV and BI DEV on a single system but with two different clients.

ECC PRD on a seprater server

BI PRD on a seprater server

Now u want to copy client from ECC PRD to ECC DEV.

You can achieve this by doing a client export/import or through remote client copy. You cannot restore a backup of the ECC PRD Server to the ECC DEV Server(If u do so, u will loose the BI DEV Client).

Depending on the requirement u can choose SAP_ALL or SAP_CUST.

If u r looking for a config copy then go for SAP_CUST. It is not a good idea to copy the production data to a development server and expose the sensitive data to the users in the development server(where u may not be having proper auth control).

Hope this clarifies.

Hi, Varadharajan

yes you are rigth for our landscape. We want to use client export with client-dependent application and customizing data, no client -indipendent customizing data and system data. in this case nothing will happen to our BW cient? is profile of SAP_ALL OK for this?

Thanks

Hi,

For your confirmation client copy profile(SAP_ALL or any other) will not effect any other client other than target client data.

Hope this will help.

Hi,

Copying the application data from PRD to DEV is not advisable. In this case use the profile SAP_CUST to do the cliet copy. You can use any one of the option, Client export/import or the remote client copy.

Note: This case, the application data currently in DEV client will be deleted.
