Can I modify default values of UI element properties

Former Member

Hello experts .

We are preparing for big WDA develop project .

We want to shorten time to make WDA component .

So , we want to modify default values which are set in properties when they are created .

Designs (Color , layout , coding rule and so on ) are already approved .

Requires of our customers are so many and complex .

But some default values are irrelevant .

So, we want to shorten time to make WDA component .

I do not know whether the configuration of SE80 is available or not .

Do you have any idea ?

Hi ,

Seems that you want to set tthe properties of uielements as per your design. Like if you add a group, it's layout should always be matrix layout as you dont want to change it from flow layout to matrix layout.

I dont think this can be achieved. You can only change the properties of UIelements once they are added in the view.

Hello , Vishal .

Thank you for your reply and provide us with good example .

That is the thing we want to do .

Hi Masao,

I've never used it myself, but have you looked into the Favorites? I don't know if you can set other defaults but it's worth a try.

If this does not work, another solution might be to change the standard SAP objects like class CL_WD_GROUP, you can set initial values or change the default values in the source.. (I know, this is not a prefferable solution..)

Good luck with this and I would appreciate if you could let us know if you somehow solved this!

Hi, Roelof

Thank you for helpful answer .

I have tried Favorites on view editor .

But I can not custom properties of new UI elements and find any solutions .

+the standard SAP objects like class CL_WD_GROUP +

I can not stop at debug point in CL_WD_GROUP method REGISTER_TO_VIEW ,

when I make new GROUP .

Do classes like CL_WD_GROUP operate in design time when I make new UI element .

I am not sure modify codes in the standard SAP objects like class CL_WD_GROUP .

I am going to try to use the standard objects more .

Thank you .

Although it isn't helpful to you now, we have a new feature in NetWeaver 7.02 Web Dynpro ABAP that lets you create custom templates within the View Editor of SE80. This does exactly what you describe. You can save templates of one or more UI elements with their default properties already set. They are then inserted into new views similar to the way the form wizard works.

Hello, Thomas .

Thank you for your reply and I am sorry for the delay in answering.

We have copied UI elements from the template View which have appropriate properties for our needs .

Thank you .
