Hi,

I've already checked this post: but I would like to know what are the pros and cons of each alternative in PS?

Thanks,

Hi

Both have similar usage and the difference you can find is when you use service master record you can maintain the scales & rates individually where as for DIEN you cannot (except through info record, vendor specific). Service master is activity oriented where as DIEN is quantity oriented. You cannot plan any unplanned works with DIEN materials. For materials price will be updated and for service master price is fixed and cannot be affected by postings.

But in a DIEN material you can assign activities and materials with Tcode OISD, can't you?

Nevertheless I've seen the DIEN materials are oriented to services you sell while the master services is used for those you purchase.

Create a material with type DIEN, a service master. And create a simple project and asssign those and see what happens in every transaction.
