How to Upgrade portal to Internal Explorer 8

Hi,

Our client is looking to upgrade the portal to the level of Internet Explorer 8. We are currently facing issues with IE8 as some of the push buttons, drop downs etc do not appear properly on the portal.

Can anyone please help us ASAP to know what SAP notes , support packs or Development changes are required.
