Hi All!

Our customer want to store the critical information on customer in MDM.

Some information(Social Security Nuber, etc) is required to be encrypted in DB.

Is it possible?

Can we use DB encryption tool for MDM DB?

Thanks and regards,

Hi Chang Young,

You may want to check out Database Encryption Expert from IBM. See here for more information:

[SETTING UP IBM DATABASE ENCRYPTION EXPERT IN AN SAP ENVIRONMENT |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/00d8f606-f30a-2c10-f19b-a92f7d0af4d0]

My company, Vormetric, partners with IBM to provide data-at-rest encryption solutions for IBM DB2 and Informix on LUW platforms. Vormetric also has solutions for Oracle.

Vormetric encryption is de-coupled from the applications like NetWeaver. We don't change application logic, nor do we require changes to the underlying database schema. Any sensitive data, including SSNs, remain encrypted at rest. Unstructured data such as documents, files and images can also be encrypted by Vormetric.

If you'd like to learn more about this encryption and what it's alternatives there are, please let me know.
