Hello All,

I am installing AS-Java ,SRM 7.0 Support Release 1.

The SAP installation GUI screen goes blank at the phase4 Install common system files.

And there is nothing happening in the sapinst.log and the sapinst_dev.log after this point.

I have attached the logs for the sapinst. Please help, I am not able to go any forward with this.

NOTE: our /sapinst -installation directly is an NFS mount. I am not sure this that can cause any of these problems.

Hi,

SAP recommends to have the installation files in the local FS. Copy the intsllation files to a local FS and the retry the installation.

I have copied my /sapinst as a local directory instead of the NFS mount.

Restarted the sapinst and continued with the previous installation option.

It's again hung up in the same phase - install common system files.

Do i have to start my installation as a new install?

If so , do i have to delete all the previous installation logs in /tmp?

What do i do?

Hi,

Yes, please start the installation again and SAPINST will start creating the logs automatically and no need to delete the files in /tmp.

I have copied my /sap inst as a local directory instead of the NFS mount and restarted my installation with the new option and it completed successfully.

I think the trick is to :

1. Have your sapinst directory locally available.

2. open a new installation session every time the previous session hangs up.

Thank You guys for your help!

hm! may be, SAP recommends not to use NFS file systems for installations.
