Hi,

While using solution manager work center for scheduling jobs in CPS by redwood, what is the approval process in place?

How and where is the job approver ID entered, as only an approved job can be scheduled.

Regards,

Esha Raj

Hello Esha,

SAP CPS is not part of the Change Control of the Job Scheduling Management. Anyone who has access to SAP CPS can directly schedule a job without approval.

These blogs demonstrate ways to enforce a Job Control mechanism:

Regarding Change Management:

See the following documenation for an illustration of the document flow when integrating with the Change Request Management: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm70ehp1_sp23/helpdata/en/45/51fbdbd4941803e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

The Change Request Management scenario consists of a workflow for implementing job documentation changes The workflow for any change starts with the occurrence of an error or missing functions. This is reported to the Service Desk where a change request is created. If the error is serious enough to warrant the implementation of a correction, the change request is then approved. Subsequently, depending on the subject in the change request, a change transaction is then created of the type Job Change Document.

If you follow the change management process, grant auhtorization for Job Documentation creation to the persons that are allowed to approve the request.

The documentation is created on approval with change control being enabled. The change control ensures that a documentation can only be changed if

a) there's an approved change request assigned to it

b) the current user is also the current processor of the change documend (the follow up document of the change request)

I guess this answeres you question: The person who schedules the job in the production system is the current processor of the job change document in status Validation, because only this person has the authorization to access the Job Documentaion and to trigger the scheduling in SAP CPS. See also http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm70ehp1_sp23/helpdata/en/54/73fe2718814178b372955647ded13e/frameset.htm.

Authorizations:

You can control authorization for

a ) Job Documentation creation with authorization object SM_JOBDEF

b) job scheduling from a job documentation with authorization object SM_JOB

Examples:

- you can remove authorization for activity "schedule"

- you can remove authorization for activity "edit", i.e. the job schedule can be displayed but not changed

- activate change control (see 1. and attached screenshot, requires role SAP_SM_SCHEDULER_ADMIN)

Kind regards,

Martin

Hi Esha,

an explicit approval process is only realized if you use the integration with Change Request Management (ChaRM), i.e. out of the job request you can create a Change Request and this can be approved of rejected.

If you only work with Job Request and JOb Doc (without ChaRM) you can only use an implicit apporval, i.e. once you create an JOb Doc out of the Job Request you can see this as implcit approval.

If you only work with Job Document and CPS and use no Job Request then there is no approval process supported from a technical perspective.

Best Regards

Volker
